When chaos strikes, hesitation isn't an option. Active Shooter is a VR tactical training simulation for Abu Dhabi Police, built in Unreal Engine 5. With realistic environments, real-time communication, and AI-driven adversaries, it delivers intense, decision-focused training for high-risk scenarios.
What seemed like a straightforward VR training project quickly became something far bigger. This wasn't just about building a simulation. It was about making officers truly feel the intensity of high-risk situations. Every detail had to mirror reality, from lighting and shadows to suspect behavior.

The first prototypes fell short. Gun recoil felt unnatural, NPCs reacted mechanically, and locomotion lacked fluidity. Weeks of testing, refining, and relentless iteration finally led to a realistic movement, dynamic AI, and an experience that felt alive.

"Tactical precision meets immersive simulation. We didn’t create a game; we created a training doctrine."
Ultra-realistic Metahuman models looked incredible but impacted performance. The team optimized assets, balanced realism with smooth gameplay, and fine-tuned haptic gun feedback until every recoil and vibration felt authentic.

The result was more than a VR simulation — it was an immersive training experience. Officers reacted instinctively, fully engaged as if in real-world scenarios. When Abu Dhabi Police confirmed it met their expectations, every challenge and late night proved worthwhile.

Utilizing Unreal Engine 5 and Metahumans to create photorealistic scenarios that push the boundaries of immersion.
